Mountain Bike Trail Crew at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch

What you'll do

The Mountain Bike Trail Crew is primarily responsible for the general maintenance of bike paths at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. Maintenance activities will include clearing debris and vegetation from trails and fixing areas of erosion. The Mountain Bike Trail Crew reports directly to the Bike Program Manager.

Pay: Commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with construction, repair, and maintenance of trails as directed.
  • Initiate and maintain general cleanliness of the trails and assigned work areas.
  • Conducts safety inspections of trails, including emergency inspections following storm related events
  • Trim and remove vegetation using saws, axes, and other hand and powered cutting tools as needed.
  • Move and compact soil and stone using hand and powered tools as needed.
  • Dispose of debris using manually operated and powered vehicles.
  • May be required to be trained and work with specialized tools to complete projects.Assist in other bike program needs, including washing bikes and helping with guided mountain bike rides.

  • Physically capable of carrying out the designated responsibilities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, swing, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk/hike. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.   • Able to communicate effectively, orally and in written form, with other employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Possess skills, knowledge and experience in operating and maintaining a wide variety of equipment including chainsaw, blowers, weed eaters, and hedge trimmers.
  • Capable of operating mobile power equipment.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs to small equipment and tools.
  • Sound working knowledge of trails, surfacing, drainage, erosion and slope stability as they relate to trail maintenance.
